📌 Breaking News- PMDC Postpones MDCAT 2025
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced the postponement of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) due to the devastating floods across the country. The exam, earlier scheduled for October 5, will now take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the Ministry of Health confirmed on Friday.
According to the official statement, the decision was taken after consultations with representatives from all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan, under the directions of Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal. The floods have displaced millions and inundated thousands of villages, making it extremely difficult for students in affected areas to appear in the exam.
“The decision is in the larger interest of the students. The government is committed to providing equal educational opportunities to every student in the country,” said Health Minister Mustafa Kamal.
MDCAT is a mandatory entry test for admission into medical and dental colleges in Pakistan. Each year, nearly 200,000 students appear in the exam, which is conducted in designated universities across the country. This year’s examination centers include:
- Punjab – University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore
- Sindh – Sukkur IBA University, Sukkur
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar
- Balochistan – Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta
- Islamabad, AJK & Gilgit-Baltistan – Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad
- International Venue – PMDC center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The PMDC, Pakistan’s national regulatory body for medical and dental education, emphasized that the postponement was necessary to ensure fairness and accessibility for all candidates, especially those affected by the natural disaster.
